circa 1840, almost certainly Continental, approximately 1 3/4in. overall with frozen 1/2in. false damascened rifled turn-off round barrel of about 2mm bore, squared engraved boxlock action with slightly offset central hammer and carved and fenced snail, concealed folding trigger, suspension loop to top-strap and bag-shaped ivory grip, working action but nipple broken off and absent
